LIFE RHYME

Life Rhyme

They didn’t tell us life would ebb and flow
What we clung to would inevitably go
And it took some time before we’d know
Yes turned into maybe, and fate would throw

Us into chaos, loss, then something new
Something right, something true
Maybe happy, often blue
One thing for sure: we always grew

Cobbled streets became coastal roads
Handsome princes, loathsome toads
Clear pure messages became hidden codes
Brilliant sapphires, muddy woads

Throughout life the pendulum swings
We win and lose so many things.
Lovers, family, places, rings,
Notebooks, health, and dreams of wings

---Elizabeth is a friend and fellow patient at LHH. We are both friends of Dr. Victoria Sweet...who wrote ''God's Hotel,'' a book about LHH. We were both Residents' Council President at different times during Dr. Sweet's tenure at the hospital.
